The basics

How do Match Point competitions work?
Pick a competition, choose how many tickets you want, and check out. Each competition has a fixed number of tickets, a closing date and a prize. When it closes, one ticket is drawn at random and that ticket wins. Many comps also have instant wins hidden in certain ticket numbers, so you can win something the moment you buy.
Is this legal in the UK?
Yes. We run prize competitions, not a lottery. Every competition has a free postal entry route, which is what keeps prize competitions outside lottery rules in the UK. Paid and postal entries are treated exactly the same in the draw.
Who can enter?
You need to be 18 or over and living in the UK. The full eligibility rules are in our competition terms.
Can I enter for free?
Yes. Every competition has a free postal entry route with the same chance of winning as a paid entry. Full instructions, the address and the closing rules are in our competition terms.
Who's behind Match Point?
I'm Jack, the founder. Former Level 4 tennis coach and ex-Royal Marine, and I play padel every week. Match Point Competitions Ltd is a registered UK company (No. 16422256). You can message me directly, and you'll often get me, not a bot.

Odds and draws

What are my odds?
Every competition page shows the total number of tickets, so your odds are never hidden. One ticket out of 2,000 is a 1 in 2,000 chance at the main prize. Instant win comps also show how many prizes are inside and how many have been found so far.
How are winners picked?
Every main draw is done live on our YouTube channel, so you can watch your ticket go in. The winning ticket is picked at random, and every winner is published on our Results page.
What happens if a competition doesn't sell out?
Every competition shows its closing date on its page. What happens if tickets are left when it closes is set out in our competition terms, so you know before you enter.
How do instant wins work?
Some ticket numbers have a prize attached. If you buy one of those tickets, you win that prize instantly and see it at checkout. The live counter on each competition shows which prizes are still up for grabs and which have been found. Instant wins only go to tickets that are actually sold, so they're there to be found, not promised.
How will I know if I've won?
Instant wins show up on screen the moment you check out. For main draws, we contact the winner directly after the live draw, and every winner is posted on our Results page.
Where can I see my ticket numbers?
Log in and head to your account. Every order lists your ticket numbers and any instant wins you've found. Your confirmation email has them too.
Can I win more than once?
Yes. Every ticket has its own chance, so you can pick up several instant wins in one order, and winning one competition never stops you winning another.
Is there a limit on how many tickets I can buy?
Yes. Each competition has a maximum number of tickets per person, shown on the competition page. It keeps things fair and gives more people a real shot.

Prizes

When will I get my prize?
Once we've confirmed your details, your prize is sent out as quickly as possible, usually direct from our supplier. We'll keep you updated until it arrives.
Is there a cash alternative?
Some competitions offer one. If there is, it's listed on the competition page before you enter.
What is site credit?
Some instant wins are site credit. It goes straight into your account wallet and you can use it on any competition at checkout. Your balance shows at the top of the site whenever you're logged in.
Can I withdraw cash prizes?
If you win a cash prize, we'll contact you to arrange payment as soon as your details are confirmed.
Do I pay tax on prizes?
Prizes won in UK competitions aren't normally treated as taxable income. If you're unsure about your own situation, check with an accountant.

Account and payments

How can I pay?
You can pay securely by card at checkout, or use any site credit in your wallet.
Can I get a refund?
Once a ticket is bought it's entered into the competition, so entries can't normally be refunded. If something has gone wrong with a payment, email us and we'll sort it. Full details are in our competition terms.
I was charged but didn't get any tickets. What now?
Don't worry, it gets fixed. Occasionally a payment goes through after a checkout has timed out. Email us with the email on your account and roughly when you paid, and we'll refund you or add your tickets, whichever you prefer.
How do I close my account?
Email us from the address on your account and we'll close it, in line with our privacy policy. If you've got credit left in your wallet, use it before you close your account.
How do discount codes work?
Enter your code at checkout. Codes have their own terms (minimum spend, expiry, one use per customer), shown wherever you got the code.
Do you have a referral scheme?
Yes. Share your referral link: when a friend signs up and spends £5 or more, they get £3 and you get £5 in site credit, paid after a 14-day hold.
How do I keep my play in check?
Only ever spend what you're happy to spend on fun. If you'd like to take a break or have your account closed, email us and we'll sort it, no questions asked. Free, confidential support is also available from GamCare (0808 8020 133) and BeGambleAware.
How do I contact you?
Email [email protected] or message us on Instagram @matchpointcompetitions. We reply as fast as we can, usually same day.
